It took Fara Homidi four years to get the formula right. Behind the scenes at every fashion show and editorial shoot, the makeup artist experimented with a customizable concealer/foundation/highlighter hybrid and a specially designed buffer brush until they delivered the natural-yet-perfected “runway skin” she’s known for. When the call came that the formula was finally ready, VG’s curators lept into action.

The Essential Face Compact is this, exactly. Inside the (refillable) hand-polished compact, the Smooth Veil Soft Matte formula provides buildable, imperceptible coverage only where you need it. The gel-to-cream universally flattering champagne- hued Shine Baume, can be applied under or over the Soft Matte, mixed-in for slip, dimension, and glow, or worn on bare skin and lids for a little gleam. And then there’s the Buffer Brush: a perfectly petite ideal companion, with its rounded side designed to expertly melt makeup into skin while the flat side lays down the dewy baume with aplomb.
