Dr. Chaneve Jeanniton
“I don’t believe in anti-aging, per se,” says Dr. Chaneve Jeanniton, the Brooklyn-based oculofacial plastic surgeon behind the skin care brand Epi.Logic. “If you deny it so hard, you’re doing all kinds of untoward things to yourself.” She is a refreshing voice of reason in a world sometimes teetering toward aesthetic excess, when self-scrutiny during Zoom meetings can send patients spiraling. “It’s antithetical to how humans are meant to communicate with one another,” she says. “We’re not supposed to stare at ourselves—we’re supposed to get lost in the other person.” It’s no surprise she found herself drawn to a discipline geared toward subtle finesse. She recalls observing her first eye surgery toward the end of training: “I was taken aback by how gorgeous and elegant and delicate it was.”
A native of Queens, Dr. Jeanniton was a latecomer to the beauty scene, notwithstanding an appreciation for Janet Jackson’s braids in 1993’s Poetic Justice. (“It was a moment for me.”) The turning point came during residency, when a facial with an overly aggressive aesthetician left her with lingering hyperpigmentation. “I went into sleuth mode,” she says of her deep dive into clinical skin care and at-home baby peels. “I nursed my skin back to health, and that’s when I became kind of obsessed.” In 2019, she launched her own line, Epi.Logic, drawing on her in-office insights. The hero serum, Master Plan, formulated with human-derived growth factors, stems from microneedling treatments. “I’m obsessed with everything regenerative, tapping into the power of our body to heal itself,” she says. It’s serious work—a quality she admires in other expert-led brands, from Sofie Pavitt Face to Fara Homidi. Find those, and more, in her judiciously curated BAG.

The creative directors on my team are the pickiest people I know. The last time we linked up, they spent an entire 20 minutes telling me why this is the perfect scent. It’s my holiday gift to myself.
