A chance encounter with a geisha on a trip to Kyoto took Victoria Tsai from a career working for large corporations to a journey deep into the world of Japanese beauty rituals. Yearning for more simplicity and authenticity in her life, she was drawn to the craftsmanship and heritage of Japanese formulas—but was ultimately inspired by the way her sensitive skin was transformed. Tatcha launched in 2009 with handmade blotting sheets infused with 24k gold leaf, and within a year a range of gentle skin care followed. Working closely with the best scientists and consulting a Japanese manuscript of beauty rituals written in 1813, Tatcha brings modern technology and centuries-old geisha culture together.
